More of my Win7 love list!

• I really can't believe I'm using the same PC!! Win7 makes it incredibly faster!

• If usability and great user experience mean anything, they are certainly Win7!

• Ever had troubles connecting to a projector?! Not anymore with Win7 "Connect to a Projector" utility!

• The "Solve PC Issues" notification on the taskbar is really helpful and not annoying anymore, you can open the "Open Action Center" and see how you can resolve the problems..

• Easily customize the icons on your taskbar, no need to crowd your taskbar with unwanted icons, and even if you want the icons, organize their view in a better way...

When you click on customize, this is what you see:

• Great maintenance options, to create a system repair disk to recover windows if a system error occurred and there is also backup and restore options..
  

• There are also many great options in the Media Center, my friend Chris has written about them here

• The new "Paint" is such a huge different thing compared to the old ones!!! more about it here

• Ease of access center: the narrator, for more accessibility

Why I Love Windows7 ! - Part 2

When I came up with my first post about why I love Win7, I knew that one post wasn't going to be enough for me to say everything I love about Win7..



So here I am writing my part 2!

First let me tell you that I am not just excited about Win7 because I am a Microsoft Student Partner and because we're working on introducing Win7 to everyone.. The truth is, I am excited about new technologies that are good, no matter where they come from.. I haven't been excited about Windows Vista and I kept using Windows XP on my PC until I migrated to Win7 .. I have used all versions of Windows and I can tell you that Win7 is as different as Microsoft claims, this time, IT'S TRUE! This operating system is revolutionary, simple, lovely, fast, unique, eye catching and a lot more!

I've also used Ubuntu HardyHeron v8.04 (What I like to call the 'duck' version, coz of its funny wallpaper :D) and I've to tell you, Win7 is far much cooler than Ubuntu.. ! There is no way to compare both, unless you're an Open Source lover!

Let's see more of my Win7 love list!

• Preview Pane allows you to preview a file without opening it! You can choose to enable the pane or just hide it.. In the preview pane, you can view: photos, videos, music, notepad files and even Pdf and Word files!!
  

• Windows Event Viewer lets you view monitoring and troubleshooting messages from windows and other programs.

• Aero Shake! Shake your window! More about it here ..Want to focus on one window? Shake it, and all the other open windows on your desktop will be hidden. Shake again, and they're all back. Click, hold down, and give your mouse a shake! (Who says an old mouse can't learn a new trick?) :D

• Your library: the best way to organize your files and pin your most frequent icons to it.. Right click your library folder on the taskbar and here's what you see:

Include your files in the library:

• Preview your recent opened files for a specific program without opening the program, just view them in the start menu!

• Preview all your opened windows, without clicking on them, just hover your mouse over their mini preview on the taskbar, when you move the mouse away, you're back to your original window.. This is really useful when you're waiting for a page to load or a program to finish installation and you just don't want to bring the whole window into view when you have many windows opened and your computer feels like a dead machine that is not responding!

• Right click any program on your taskbar, and you get a fast list of all its options!

I guess this is it for now, will certainly come back later with more and more on my beloved Win7!

OR give a copy of your academic ID with your email address written on it to one of Alexandria University MSPs (Microsoft Student Partners: Ahmad Fathy, Kareem Hashem and myself) who are at Computer and Systems Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering.

Why I Love Windows7 ! - Part 1

There are a lot of posts on the Internet about Windows 7, explaining its new features, comparing it to previous versions of Windows.. However, I want to write today in short and simple points the main reasons why I fell in love with Win7...



First, a lot of people have been wondering about the reason why it is called Windows 7 in specific.. I believe the reason behind the name is from a pure marketing perspective, since it allows easy referencing for the product, by just saying "7" or "Win7" .. You can read more about the naming of Win7 here on this post


I also don't want to miss the opportunity to mention that my friend Chris, who is also an MSP in the UK, has posted real very nice stuff about Win7 that you will really enjoy!

Now, to my "Win7 Love List" :D

• It needs around 10 GB to be installed on your machine, along with some software as well!! that's quite a great move compared to Vista!
• It needs less than 30 minutes to be installed on your machine and then you can start installing any other software you need.
  
• Both XP and Vista's functionalities still exist in Win7 inspite of the small installation space Win7 requires.. So don't be afraid to use Win7, you will be just fine!
• You don't need to install any drivers software for Win7! I thought I'd need to at least configure my LAN, but it just detects everything on its own
• Win7 taskbar is just so easy to use, provides fast access to all your programs as you can pin them to it!
  
• Win7 works on 1GB RAM faster than XP working on the same RAM size!!
• The Aero Peek option is really so cool, allowing you to take a peek at your desktop by just hovering your mouse over the end of the taskbar.
  
• The taskbar provides peeking at your opened windows, you can even close the windows from the preview that the taskbar provides, without having to open the window itself.
• You have the option on your desktop to see the "Next desktop background" (Right click on the desktop), as the theme you select from Windows personalization will provide many desktop backgrounds that you can easily see by clicking that option!
• Unlike Windows Vista, Win7 tells you about incompatiblity issues BEFORE you install any software..
• The search capabilities of Win7 are just beyond imagination, it can dig right into your files!
• New improvements have been brought to the paint program.. It is now really cool!
  

Finally as an MSP, I would like to invite all university students (both post and undergraduates) to check out with their campus MSPs about how to get an MSDNAA account and download your own original version of Microsoft software, including Windows 7, and obtaining original product keys.

If I’m gone, what will happen,
Without a notice, all of a sudden?
Will it hurt someone, or no one?
Will there be many tears or none?
Will anyone’s life change forever?
Or will everyone say, “Whatever!”
Do I make a difference around me?
Do I bring excitement and glee?
Am I a source of happiness,
Fun, pleasure and liveliness?
Am I actually hated or admired?
Am I a person deeply desired?
Am I a positive inspiration?
Can I bring others motivation?
Or am I just a dull boring soul,
That can’t be anything good at all?
In any case, I guess I’ll be the same,
Coz in my heart, there is no shame,
There might be sadness but I know,
That someday happiness will flow,
And fill my life with pretty things,
So I’ll wait for what the world brings…

My spoilt brave baby dove…
Your heart is genuine and true,

A silly life is what we see everyday,
Its silliness defines how we choose our way,
Its shadows surround us with darkness,
Filling the air with despair and sadness…
But even if we see it silly and absurd,
Feeling our prayers are never heard,
We should know that things occur,
Not necessarily the way we prefer,
But in a way we won’t understand,
In a more superior will that’s planned,
That makes us work harder in order to,
Fulfill our dreams; be able to go through,
Give life its meaning, its inspiration,
So that it may give us back motivation,
Creating a life that’s deeper, meaningful,
Intense with rich feelings, beautiful,
Filled with joy and wrapped with love,
A life that comes from heaven above…
